Obituary for Raymond Lester
Mr. Raymond L. Lester, age 52, of the Drill section of Russell County, Virginia passed away Monday (July 31, 2017) at his home. Born May 9, 1965 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Tivis and Frances Eleanor “Tootsie” Meade Lester. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1983 graduate of Honaker High School and a member of the House of Prayer at Combs Ridge, Virginia. He never met a stranger and always enjoyed talking and fellowship with people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kirby T. Lester and Guy H. Lester; two brothers-in-law, James Howard and Gerald Meadows; two sisters-in-law, Rita Lester and Christine Lester and one niece, Amy Lester.
Survivors include his wife of twenty years, Tina L. Stevens Lester of the home; eight brothers, Douglas M. Lester and wife, Eura and Steven B. Lester and wife, Jackie both of Honaker, Kermit Lester and wife, Jessee of Denver, North Carolina; James I. Lester and wife, Carolyn of Lebanon, Doyle G. Lester and wife, Betty of Belfast, William A. Lester and wife, Ruby and Ray J. Lester and wife, Christine both of Big A Mountain, and Andy Lowe and wife, Fern of Abingdon, Virginia; three sisters, Darlene Howard of Lebanon, Charlene Meadows of Newberry, South Carolina and Diane Linowski and husband, Jim of Irmo, South Carolina; special friends, Ernie Penley, C.A. Smith and Rusty Bass; sisters-in-law, Delores Lester and Lola Gay Lester; his fur baby which was his pride and joy, Peanut, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Seth Shortridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Stevens Cemetery at Combs Ridge, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be nephews and brothers-in-law, Larry Lester, Randy Howard, Mike Lester, Harm Howard, Mark Phillips, Tom Duty, Junior Stevens and Stevie Hess.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Thursday at the Honaker Funeral Home where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM with Rev. Randall Stevens officiating.
